Our customer is a global leader in wireless local area
network (WLAN) technology.
The Computing Connectivity Division (CCD) is responsible for the development,
design and marketing of chipsets for the wireless market (IEEE802.11/Wi-Fi
products). The Wi-Fi chipsets enable mobile high-speed wireless broadband access
in Residential, Enterprise and Public environments.
Within CCD, the department ASIC development is responsible
for the development of propriety chips en firmware for the core of 802.11
wireless products. The department closely interacts with product management, the
client product-engineering group, and the manufacturing group.
The department's core activities are:·
- Specification and design of wireless network products
- Development of wireless network products, both ASIC and firmware
- Productization of these products
Background:
All their network products use embedded firmware for the implementation of
the lower layer (MAC layer) network protocols. The firmware is coded in assembly
language and executed on the customers dedicated processor.
Job profile:
The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for:
- Writing design specifications for firmware features
- Implementation of those features
- Contributions to next generation MAC developments
- Active participation in protocol standardization
Qualification and experiences:
- MSc, e.g. University of Technology, specialized in Electronics or
Telecom.
Specialized knowledge required:
- In-depth knowledge of MAC layer protocols (802.11)
- Experience with software engineering in assembly
