Regio Utrecht - Product manager wireless

Our customer is a global leader in wireless local area network (WLAN) technology. Their division NED (Networking and Entertainment Division) is looking for a Product manager. NED represents a new opportunity for their Wi-Fi solutions, like Digital Voice and Satellite Radio. There challenge is to become a major player in the consumer electronic market. Within NED they develop, produce and market chipsets. NED NL has about 40-50 employees. NED USA about 70.

The Product Manager will be responsible for the revenue and profitability for (part of) the portfolio of NED products. This includes identifying new market opportunities & trends, understanding customer requirements, researching competition and creating marketing bulletins on the outcome, contributing to business plans, product release plans and pricing. Frequent customer visits to key customers and prospects are required, providing updates on NED product roadmaps and working with these key customers to ensure our roadmaps are integrated with theirs. The Product Manager works closely with Engineering to ensure customer demands for products and features are understood, while assuring product profitability. The Product Manager must also work closely with field sales and marketing organizations to ensure appropriate product marketing material is available and to ensure appropriate product feedback is incorporated in a timely manner.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate must have a good understanding of the technology preferably in the 802.11 industries, a good understanding of the market mechanisms, and an excellent business sense. The candidate must be able to understand the end user market drivers in PAN, LAN and WAN, GPRS, EDGE, GSM, 3G etc, and the used applications in those markets. The candidate must be able to talk the 802.11 industry talk with large accounts, industry analysts and Engineering inside and outside of NED.

The candidate will have an enthusiastic, can-do & creative attitude and be willing to travel frequently. Excellent presentation skills and a good Engineering and business background is also desired.

Professional Background and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Product Management roles or business development management.
- Very strong business sense and a proven track record of success with the introduction of products in the market.
- Good overall understanding of 802.11 and communications & networking technology and marketplace in general.
- Is a sophisticated speaker speaking very comfortable with customers and engineers at all levels.
- Excellent communication & presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work across cross-cultural and multi-disciplined teams
- Fluent English, oral and written
- Sensitive to cultural differences
- Willingness to travel
